Farmhouse Property Update |
Thursday, 12 June 2008 |
In the summer of 2005 the Lynch family farmhouse and grounds within The Pinecrest, part of the former Elmdale Farm, was sold to a developer, Prospect Development Company, Inc. For those unfamiliar with the farmhouse property, it is at 4500 Highland Green Court and is adjacent to the second tee of Pinecrest Golf Course. The original intention of the developer was to build single-family houses on the three lots that comprise the property. Construction would follow demolition of the existing farmhouse and garage, as well as removal of one or more trees presently on the property. |

Important notice about Recycling Yard Waste |
Tuesday, 08 April 2008 |
Effective Immediately: Single Family Homes Must Recycle; Townhomes Exempt Through 2009. In general, the County requires all single-family homes and most townhouses to recycle yard waste (leaves, grass, and brush) from March through December. Yard waste includes leaves, grass, and brush (shrubs, prunings, twigs, and plants) from regular household lawn and garden care. Read entire article in PDF format. Trash Away has already begun going through the single family roads on Mondays to ensure their procedures are in place for whenever single family owners/tenants are notified and begin recycling. |

2008 Spring Cleanup was a Success!! |
Sunday, 13 April 2008 |
April 19, 2008, was a gorgeous day for our spring clean-up in The Pinecrest < Click here to see pictures > Twenty-four of your neighbors reported to the gazebo at the tennis courts, and proceeded to their assigned streets and paths to pick up any debris they could find. A special thanks to our pond waders who must have looked a bit odd to the resident frogs. The only surprise find was a pair of pants in the pond, and we are still speculating as to how they got there. Many participants reported that there were a lot of cigarette butts on the sidewalks and streets. Please realize that this is littering, and dispose of cigarette butts properly! A special thanks to DeAnn Jelinek for performing her usual fine picture taking duties. This year we were fortunate to have Fairfax County provide gloves and trash bags for the participants. Thanks to all who participated! <Click to see pics>. |
